Biografy

 

Born in 1942 in Civita Castellana, the ancient Etruscan city famous for the historical ceramic handcraft. After having attended the School of Art in Civita Castellana, he moves to Rome in 1960, where he is enrolled at the Academy of Arts. During those years he meets many artists, and Pericle Fazzini wants him to work with him in his atelier in via Margutta 51A. Thus Giuseppe find himself at the core of a network of extraordinary and exceptional artistic and social relations: Cagli, Montanarini, Turcato, Ungaretti, Mafai among others.

In 1965 he gets the first prize of sculpture for young artists at “Rassegna di Roma e del Lazio al Palazzo delle Esposioni”. In 1970 he wins another prize: “Pensionato Nazionale di Scultura Catel” and he obtains the position as Professor at Liceo Artistico in Frosinone. In the early 70s he collaborates intensely with staging sculptures to ballets and theatre.

In the late 70s he is asked by architect Giuseppe Samonŕ to participate to the International Meetings of Art and Architecture. In the mid 80s he starts to meet daily painter Montanarini, who, after his death, inspired him to painting. The collective and personal exhibitions in Italy and abroad are numerous: the latest in Scandinavia: at the Italian Culture Insitute in Stockholm in 2002 and 2004, with the exhibition “The Italian Exile” presented by the art critics Olle Granat and Enrico Crispolti; at Gallery Gummesons in Stockholm in 2004; at Gallery Wallmark in Stockholm in 2005; and the very latest, just concluded in Helsinki at Gallery Aspis.
